Erna Bruwer

PhD Biokinetics (NWU, PUK)
Dr Erna Bruwer completed her pre-graduate- (Human Movement Science) and post-graduate studies (honours, masters and doctorate in Biokinetics) at the North-West University (PUK).  She was previously employed by the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, in a permanent position as lecturer (Feb 2008 to Jan 2016), lecturing on pre-graduate level (Basic Anatomy, Applied Anatomy and Biomechanics to Human Movement Science students), as well as Orthopedic evaluation and rehabilitation to the Biokinetics honours students.  During her position as lecturer, she was involved in 7 peer reviewed scientific publications, delivered 8 Biokinetics masters students and was part of 13 conference presentations (8 oral and 5 poster). Employment positions prior to the lecturer position included Centre manager of the NWU’s Biokinetics training facility and she also functioned as the Biokineticist of the U/21 rugby squad of the PUK for two years.

Her experience in final phase orthopedic rehabilitation has also been recognized by the Biokinetics Associations of South Africa and she was approached to present several talks and workshops on rehabilitation of shoulder injuries – SASMA 2017, the 2013 BASA roadshow at the HPC (TUKS), the 2014 North West Biokinetics Association road show at the NWU (PUK).  She was also approached in the past to give input in 3 non-scientific publications on sports injuries for Rapport, Beeld & Longevity.

Werner Meyer - Biokineticist and Sport Scientist

Werner Meyer completed his degree in Human Movement Science at the University Of The Free State in 2012 as well as his Honors degree in Biokinetics and Sports Science. In 2015 he founded Bio-Health in Durbanville as well as another practice in Cape Town City Bowl District in 2016 where he now treats patients and athletes. Werner currently works with high profile athletes in high performance conditioning ranging from Comrades runners, World Tri-Athletes, South African Judo athletes and Epic MTB athletes   as well as rehabilitation of orthopedic and sport injuries. In 2013 he had the privilege to work with the Olympic male hockey team representing South Africa in the Olympic games. Werner specializes in athlete conditioning of all ages and sport disciplines. Werner has a keen interest in conditioning of athletes as well as rehabilitation of sport injuries

Hannes completed his pre-graduate- (BSc human movement science & physiology) and post-graduate studies (honours) at North West University in 2009. Since 2010 he has been in private practice, practicing in Pretoria until moving to Cape Town in 2017. His time in private practice provided experience- and developed skills in assessing and understanding human movement- and muscle imbalances within a variety of sport-codes and medical conditions. He has experience working in multi-disciplinary set-ups, treating patients in close coordination with physiotherapists, dieticians, doctors and specialists. Since 2016 he has become a keen runner, and have done the Two Oceans 56km in 2017 and 2018, and the Comrades marathon in 2018. He combines his experience on the road, experience in practice and the latest scientific research in the rehabilitation, conditioning and coaching of runners. He started coaching beginner- to intermediate runners in 2018, and has also coached hockey on different levels in the past.
